What playas.com.es is

playas.com.es is an independent guide to every beach in Spain: sea beaches from Girona to Huelva and from Galicia to the Basque Country, the beaches of the Balearic and Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, and river and inland beaches too. Each beach has its own page with photos, a map, its beach type and the weather forecast.

Where the data comes from

  • WikidataNames, coordinates, beach type (urban, nudist, sand, pebbles, rocks), largely from the Spanish Ministry's beach guide, and Commons photos.
  • OpenStreetMapRiver and inland beaches, dogs, accessibility, surfing, lifeguards and the coastline.
  • ADEACThe official list of 2026-2027 Blue Flag beaches.
  • AEMET and Open-MeteoThe weather forecast for each beach, updated several times a day.

We defined the coasts and coastal areas by grouping coastal municipalities using IGN/CNIG boundaries. Beach types are assigned automatically from these data and reviewed from our editing panel, so there may be errors or omissions.

The photos

Every photo is freely licensed and comes from Wikimedia Commons. Each one shows its author and licence, and they are all listed on the credits page. If a beach has no photo, we have not found a free one yet: you can upload yours to Wikimedia Commons and let us know.
